Alpha Leona "Granny" Thomas, age 90, formerly of Xenia, and currently residing at Quaker Heights Care Community passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

She was born December 7, 1932 in Eolia, Kentucky, the daughter of Claude and Burgie (Bowlin) Brown. In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 2 brothers, her son: Charles "Chuck" Thomas; her husband: Charles W. Thomas and son-in-law: Timothy Lawson.

Leona is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Elaine Lawson and Wayne Sharpe of Wilmington; 2 grandchildren: Tammy (John) Chavies and Adam (Nicole) Lawson; 7 great grandchildren: Abigail (Caleb) O'Neel; Garrett (Kelsey) Chavies; Jenna Chavies; Brayden Chavies; Gage, Kayden and Madelyn Lawson; a great great granddaughter: Charlotte Chavies; her extended Sharpe family and her good friend: Pauline King; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Leona had worked at the Cordage Packing Company. She was a member of the Dayton Ave. Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family and especially loved being a "Granny."

Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Wednesday, May 10th at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Visitation will be held from 11AM Wednesday until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens, Tipp City. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of your choice.
