Altheria Davis McGuire departed this life on Monday, July 31, 2023. She was born on Welford Rt. 2, Spartanburg, South Carolina. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior late in life.

She married Arthur C. McGuire on May 4, 1957 and to this union three children were born: David C. McGuire, Penny Carroll and Mary M. McGuire.

She served as a Sunday school teacher, craft teacher and special education teacher. She loved teaching children and helping them with clothing and food. She was also eager to lend a helping hand to people in need.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur C. McGuire; father: Lee Davis; mother: Verona Davis Buffington; sister: Vencelee Brown; brothers: Fred Davis and John Joe Davis.

She is survived by one brother: Willis "Bing" (Audrey) Davis and a sister, Diane Buchannan, two daughters: Penny (Brian) Carroll and Mary M. McGuire; a son: David C. (Ella) McGuire; grandchildren: Jermaine Tims, Spencer McGuire and Tamesha McGuire; McKensie and Madison Jones; great grandchildren: Julius, Jurnee and Jaelynn Tims; step son: Arthur L. (Charlotte) McGuire Sr., good friend: Mildred Jones and a host of nieces and nephews, and many good friends.

Services will be held 11 AM Monday, August 7th at Christ Episcopal Church, 63 E. Church St., Xenia with Rev. Jean Cotting officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 10 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial to follow in Woodland Cemetery, Dayton.
