Arthur W. Applegate, age 66, of New Carlisle, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 13, 1957 in Xenia, the son of Clarence J. and Alice L. (Honaker) Applegate.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Mary L. Applegate and Phyllis A. Applegate and a grandson: Jordan Applegate.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen E. (Ray) Applegate, whom he married September 4, 1999; his children: Nicholas, Derek (Jeni) and Christopher Applegate; grandchildren: Colton, Courtney, David, Tyreese, Destiny, Rylee and Kyra; sisters: Deloris Angel and Linda R. Drury; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Art graduated from Greene Vocational Center and went on to serve in the US Air Force for 12 years. During those years he proudly served in Desert Shield, Storm and Calm. He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in 2018. He was a member of the F&AM, Xenia Lodge; Order of the Eastern Star, Waynesville and American Legion New Carlisle Post. He was blessed to have a large work family he considered his friends. Art was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2040 W. Second St., Xenia which will host the celebration of his life 11 AM on Thursday, January 11th. Visitation will be held 10 AM Thursday at the church. Burial with military honors will take place immediately following the service at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
