Obituary

Catherine Aurelia Flynn, Doctor of Psychology (84 years, 14 days), was an alumna of the inaugural class of the Wright State University School of Professional Psychology. Flynn's 40-year career included service to the Fels Research Institute, decades in private practice in Dublin and Marysville, Ohio, to the Social Security Administration's Bureau of Disability Determination, and Adena Hospital in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Catherine, "Kay" to her colleagues, "Kit" to her kin, was born October 6, 1941 to William and Ellen (nee Healey) Flynn in Lakeview/Harbour Main, in the Dominion of Newfoundland, a self-governing country within the British Empire, until Newfoundland and Labrador became Canada's last province in 1949. In the early 1960s, Catherine met United States Airman John Emerson Hoersting, of Dayton, Ohio, then-stationed at Stephenville, NFLD, near where Flynn and Hoersting were married in 1965 (for 17 years). She emigrated to Greater Dayton, Ohio, USA, the following year.

Catherine survived the passing of lifelong Ohio-friend Ginger Nesbitt; Leo and Charlotte Hoersting, and Ben and Sally Chong. She is survived by 10 of her 12 siblings (all but one of Canada, and their respective, surviving spouses and children): Michael, Mary (and James Dunne), Gloria (and Michael Brazil), John, William (and Jean), Helen (and Bob Murphy), Mildred (and Wallace Butler), Isabel (and Bernard Brazil), Joseph (and Diana), Anastasia (and Kevin Hawco), Clare (and Gerald Batten), and Francis (and Anita); by sons Stephen, Leo, Eric, and daughter-in-law Angela; by grandchildren Poppy, Owen, and Madelyn; by in-laws Louise Edwards, "Jim" Courtney, and "Mike" Palmer; by classmate Dr. Irma Belle Johnston (and Frank); by family friends (and their children): Susan and Jack Stein, Robert and "Deb" Hoersting; John Hoersting and Patricia Ayers.
