Charles W. "Charlie" Cowens, age 80, of Xenia, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023 at St. Leonard's Care Center. He was born November 3, 1942 at home in Yellowbud, Ohio the son of John M. and Mary Belle (Parker) Cowens.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his brothers: John D. and Robert Cowens; sister: Betty Mettler and granddaughter: Amanda Horsley.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Joan (Jordan) Cowens, whom he married October 21, 1961; children: Kimberly (Kenny) Hill, Kristi (Greg) Harvey, Gina (Larry) Horsley and Keith (Melissa) Cowens, all of Xenia; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Charlie graduated from Kingston High School, Class of 1961. He retired from General Motors. He also worked as a custodian at the Xenia Community Schools and helped his brother at Cowens Sporting Goods for many years. He enjoyed playing Texas Hold'em.

Graveside services will be held 1 PM Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Springbank Cemetery, Yellowbud, Ohio with Rev. Chuck Ott providing words of comfort.
