Darin Lee Chapman, age 61, Wilmington, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Kettering Health Grandview Medical Center after a brief illness.
Darin was born October 6, 1964, in Xenia, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Kathleen "Kay" (Kelley) Cook and Marlin Cook; his father Gary C. Chapman: his niece, Sadie Chapman: and his great-nephews, Jett and Zeke Baker.
Darin was a 1982 graduate of Xenia High School and retired from Greene County Sanitation Engineering after 32 years of dedicated service. He took great pride in his work and had a passion for mowing grass. Darin devoted to NFL football and a lifelong diehard Minnesota Vikings fan. One of Darin's most prized possessions was his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and he truly enjoyed working on cars. He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and, of course, having a Mountain Dew in his hand. His laughter, personality, and genuine love for the things that brought him joy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Darin is survived by his sister, Kelley (Marty) Wright; his brother, Gary H. (Bernadette) Chapman; his niece, Amber Wright (Justin Baker); his nephew, Jared (Laura) Wright; and his great nephews and great niece, Brooks, Edison, Anna June, and Hudson. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Chewy, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and coworkers who were blessed to know him.
Darin's family would especially like to recognize his lifelong special friends, Greg Geyer and Lyndon Kendrick, for the love, friendship, care and support they gave throughout his life.
Darin was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His life will be honored in a private gathering with those closest to him.
