David Michael "Mike" Gillis, age 62, of Xenia, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021, at his residence.  He was born on May 23, 1959, in Concord, NC, to the late Bobby and Betty (Pait) Gillis.

David is survived by his wife of 41 years: Pamela L. (Boyce) Gillis; one daughter: Katie Jo (Jason) Leighton; and two grandchildren: Paislee and Chase Leighton.  David was preceded in death by his son Kevin Daniel Gillis.

David was a US Army Veteran who served in the Gulf War before settling in Rush Springs, Oklahoma where he was a devoted Public Works Director and was well regarded within his community.  David was a sports fan at heart who was passionate about NASCAR, Oklahoma University Football, and his Carolina Panthers.  After relocating from Oklahoma to Ohio, David became a Cleveland Browns fan and part of the Dawg Pound.  He was an avid outdoorsman and craftsman who enjoyed woodworking and creating with his hands.  David's love for animals was apparent to anyone who knew him as he cared for many dogs, cats, horses and even miniature cattle.  His unmatched work ethic and dedication to his family will be missed by all who knew him.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, August 13, 2021 at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia Ohio.
