David R.
Maxson
Sep 21, 1949 — Oct 17, 2021
David Robert Maxson, 72, passed away on October 17, following his battle with pancreatic cancer. Dave was born September 21, 1949, the son of the late Robert and Norma Maxson of Lima, Ohio. He married Cheryl (Miller) Maxson on May 5, 1973 in Wauseon, Ohio.
In April of 1981, Dave opened a land surveying firm, Maxson and Associates, in Wauseon, Ohio, and continued offering his services to Northwest Ohio for 36 years, retiring in 2017. Upon retirement he and Cheryl moved to Xenia, Ohio in order to be more closely involved in the lives of their children and grandchildren.
Dave was a devoted husband and loving father who welcomed any young person into our home and shared his time, encouragement and advice freely. He taught and exemplified self-reliance, integrity, humility, free thinking, earned respect, and quick wit.
He regularly kept a journal, and was an avid cyclist. In his golden years, there was nothing he enjoyed more than sitting around the fire, sipping a glass of wine, and having late night conversations with his sons.
Surviving are Cheryl, his wife of over 48 years, sons Ben (Harumi) Maxson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Nate (Whitney) Maxson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Andy (Stephanie) Maxson of Columbus, Ohio, as well as special friends Koji (Yuri) Okamoto of Indianapolis, who were welcomed into the family; brother Raymond (Linda) Maxson of Ottawa, Ohio, sister Terri Luedeke of Wapakoneta, Ohio, brother-in-law Tim (Vicki) Miller of Wauseon, Ohio; grandchildren Kaya and Niko, Ansley, Elliot and Evelyn, and Naho, along with extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.
A gathering for friends and family will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 10 AM -12 Noon at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Dave.
