David R. Mitchell , age 71, of Xenia, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 29, 2021, after a long and valiant battle with cancer.

Affectionately know as "Pappy," Dave was a friend to all, kind, generous and dedicated to his family.  After graduating from Cedarville College in 1975, Dave spent 30 years working for SuperValu the majority of the time as the Union Steward for the Teamsters.  He was also a long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Bellbrook.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janice (Bennett) Mitchell; children: Kristi L. and Joe Halsey; and Robert R and Amber Mitchell; grandchildren: Joshua R. Halsey, Alissa L. Halsey and Logan R. Mitchell; sisters: Bethany Ann Rappaport and Robin Lynne and Robert Rhodes; lifelong friend Hanley Mullikin as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2928 Wilmington Dayton Road, Bellbrook, Ohio with Pastor Darrell Messer officiating.  Visitation will be held 11 AM Tuesday until the time of service at the church.  Internment to follow in North Cemetery, Cedarville.  Online condolences may be made to the family at www.mccolaughfuneralhome.com
