David Wendell Mossbarger, (93), of Xenia, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at his home.  He was born on October 6th, 1930 to Helen and Wilbur Mossbarger of Washington Court House. Growing up, he developed a love for music playing the trumpet and performed in a High School Band. David served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War and upon return from military service, he married Bernice Wightman on June 15th 1955. He graduated from the University of Dayton with an Engineering degree and began his career at Globe Motors, dedicating 43 years of service and retiring as a Chief Production Officer.

David, better known as "Dad" and "Papaw" was always surrounded by family and enjoyed music and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and their marching band. He was kind, witty, and dependable. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

David is survived by his three loving children, Jeff Mossbarger (Lisa), Cindy Burr (Thomas), Michael Mossbarger (Kathy Ann); Ten grandchildren, Jacob Mossbarger, Jenna Viviani (Mark), Evan Mossbarger, Kaylee Mossbarger, Stephen Burr(Stephany), Patrick Burr, Kelley Burr, Joseph Mossbarger, Derek and Austin Olsen; Six Great Grandchildren, Ava Mossbarger, Tyson Mossbarger, Jack Viviani, Gabe Stewart, Colson Burr and Kyndall Burr. David is preceded in death by his wife Bernice Mossbarger (Wightman), mother Helen Mossbarger (Miller), father Wilbur and stepmother Eleanor Mossbarger; Grandparents Charles and Laura Mossbarger and Eva and Isaac Miller.

A Gathering for friends and family will be held 4-6 PM Thursday, January 4th at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia with at time of reflection beginning at 5:30 PM Thursday. He will be interred privately at Washington Cemetery, Washington Court House, Ohio.
