Derek Scott Pollock, age 49, of Cedarville, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, August 18, 2024 at his residence. He was born July 16, 1975 in Xenia, Ohio the son of Brenda (Kinser) and the late Jesse J. Pollock.

In addition to his father, Derek was preceded in death by his grandparents: James and Launa Kinser; and Raymond and Mary Pollock; uncles: Pete and Kenny Pollock; and James R. Kinser.
Derek is survived by his loving wife, April (Amyx), whom he married September 24, 2005; his son: Declan; his mother: Brenda; brother: Kevin C. (Robin Trimbach), all of Cedarville; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Danny and Karen Amyx of Beavercreek; sister-in-law: Erika (Jamie) DeBorde of Centerville; nieces and nephews: Addisyn and Braylin DeBorde, Sydney, Paige, Roman, Kobe, and Alissa; great niece and nephew: Zada and Zakai; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and too many friends to name.

Derek graduated from Cedarville High School, Class of 1993, where he had been a star athlete, leading the Indians as the varsity football quarterback, and playing basketball and baseball. He was very proud to have won the Deca Award, a rare honor given to those athletes who have earned 10 Varsity Letters. He continued to play sports after high school, being on multiple local softball teams with his father. He coached his son in youth baseball and was very proud to support him from the stands during other sporting events, especially football. Derek was also a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan and together with his son loved watching the Buckeyes. He also enjoyed fishing and any activity which meant he could be with his son. Derek was currently a communications specialist with AT&T, counting down to his 30th year with the company.

Derek made a great impact on many people throughout his life. The family asks that you consider sharing a memory with the family to keep his memory alive for his son. A celebration of his life will be held 1 PM Saturday, August 24th at Grace Baptist Church, 109 N. Main St., Cedarville with Bart Sheridan officiating. A gathering for friends and family will be held 11 AM Saturday until the time of service at the church. He will be interred at North Cemetery.
