James L. Butts, 53, of Beavercreek, died Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Soin Medical Center.

He was born April 15, 1972, in Dayton the son of Jack and Margaret (White) Butts.  James worked as a licensed Arborist, Truck Driver and worked with the NHRA Safety Safari for 33 years. He was a member of the New Carlisle Eagles. James enjoyed playing pool, shooting darts, golf and being outdoors.

James is survived by his wife, Tracey Garrett; parents, Jack and Margaret Butts of Xenia; brothers, Joe (Kim) Butts of Xenia, Johnny (Krisi) Butts of Cedarville and Jerry (Amy) Butts of Kettering; nieces, Ashley (Matt) Rank of Xenia, Allison Butts of Jamestown, Anessa and Taylor Butts both of Cedarville, Trinity and MaKenna Butts both of Kettering; and step-son, Joey Powell of Dayton. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Helen Butts; maternal grandparents, Richard and Mary White; and aunt, Barb Hausknecht.

Funeral service will be held 11:30 AM, Tuesday, March 3rd, at McColaugh Funeral Home in Xenia, where visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Xenia.
