James Earl
Williams
May 14, 1930 — Jul 25, 2022
James Earl Williams, 92, of Jamestown, Ohio, passed from this life peacefully on July 25, 2022, at Story Point Assisted Living in Grove City, Ohio.
James Earl was born in Booneville, Kentucky on May 14, 1930, to Cantley and Vada (McIntosh) Williams. He graduated from Owsley County High School.
He married Louise Ruth Lambert on June 3, 1952 in Dayton, Ohio not long after he had enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in the USAF from 1951 to 1956 as an airplane mechanic. He was a Korean War Veteran and earned several military commendations including the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal. After leaving the military, James E. and Louise returned to Ohio and started a dairy farm in the Jamestown area where their sons were born. In 1973 they sold the farm and moved to Shawnee Lake and he began a new career as a long haul truck driver. His travels provided him with many experiences that led to the great stories and memories he liked to share.
While trucking, James Earl continued his love of farming by keeping a meticulous lawn and growing the most beautiful roses and a garden full of vegetables. He was a generous man and sharing his roses and the food he grew in his own garden was something he made a habit of. Even the doctors he visited were often treated to a basket full of tomatoes!
James Earl was preceded in death by his parents Cantley and Vada Williams, his loving wife Louise, infant daughter Yolanda, brother Roy B. Williams and sister Mary Katherine (Williams) Barton.
He is survived by his sons James D. and his wife Rhonda (Steward), Danny and is wife Cheri (Arrasmith), granddaughter Sara Nicole Williams, grandson Daniel Scott Williams, nephews Gary Williams, Roy Junior Williams, Steve Lambert, Joe Lambert, special cousin Joy Barnes and many other nieces, nephews, and family members.
Our gratitude goes out to the many neighbors and friends who checked on him and were always willing to lend a hand throughout the years. He appreciated your help and conversation.
We would also like to send a special thank you to the kind staff at Story Point for your assistance and care over the last several months.
