Jeanne "Jan"
A. Rotterman
May 20, 1948 — Feb 5, 2023
Jeanne Ann "Jan" Rotterman, age 74, of Xenia, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton surrounded by her family and friends. She was born May 20, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio the proud daughter of John and Jeanne Neatherton.
Jan was a faithful wife, devoted mother, doting grandmother and great grandmother, loving sister and aunt and a fiercely loyal friend. Jan loved love and her love was inclusive, intense and unconditional. Jan was a true child of God and spread her faith by teaching religion classes for many years. Jan had an affinity for nature and animals which she passed down to her children and grandchildren.
Jan attended St. Brigid, graduated from Carroll High School in 1966 and furthered her studies at Mount St. Joseph's. She was a flight attendant with Delta Airlines, prior to marrying her high school sweetheart, Mike Rotterman on September 6, 1969. Jan dedicated 30 years to the medical profession, working for Dr. Erbeck and Dr. Settembrini in Xenia. After her retirement, Jan continued to help and heal others by becoming a Reiki Master and starting Tranquility for You with friends, Carol Cassidy and Kayt Grilliot. Jan was a lifetime member of St. Brigid Catholic Church, and recently attended Immaculate Conception Church. She kept herself active in spite of Rheumatoid Arthritis, by swimming and doing yoga with her friends. Jan felt at home by the ocean and enjoyed shelling, dolphin watching and walking the beach in Venice, Florida. Jan loved nature walks and in recent years, nature drives with her grandchildren. Jan had a unique quality of forming lasting relationships with those fortunate people who were not just her friends, but her "best friends." She adored her family and her greatest joy was spending quality time with them and just "all being together." She had a delightful sense of humor and wit; and the ability to make everyone feel like they were "her favorite." Jan was truly a beautiful soul inside and out, and her smile, spirit and energy will be forever missed.
In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her brother: Pat Neatherton; sister: Mary Beth Bruchs; brothers-in-laws: Bill Edgar and Bobby Rotterman; and sister-in-law: Barb Grobmyer.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years: Mike Rotterman; children: Mike (Eve) Rotterman of Westfield, IN; Annie (Lee) Ramey of Carmel, IN; Jenny (Chris) Caldwell of Xenia and Matthew (Meghann) Rotterman of Waynesville; grandchildren: John Christopher, Alex (Destiny) and Eli Caldwell; Connor and Ellie Rotterman; Zach and Drew Collins; Caleigh and Chloe Ramey; Norah, Max and Jack Rotterman; great grandchildren: Carson and Theo Caldwell; sister: Terri Garfield; brothers: John (Ann) Neatherton, Jr. and Mike (Maria) Neatherton; mother-in-law: Doris Rotterman; brothers-in-law: Gregory Bruchs and Jack Grobmyer; sisters-in-law: Brenda Rotterman and Mary Ann (Vinny) Porecca; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, life-long friends and new friends, too many to be named.
