Joe W. Bowman passed away after at home after a short illness Sunday June 13, 2021. Born November 13, 1939 in Coal Grove, Ohio to James and Effie (Poole) Bowman. Joe was preceded in death by his parents. Survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Nancy (Swafford) Bowman, brother: David Bowman, sons: Brent (Holly) Bowman and Matt (Jodi) Bowman; grandchildren: Jake & Molly Bowman, Nayson & Nevan Bowman, and niece: Lauren Botts.

Joe worked as educator and school administrator for 37 years, retiring from the Greene County Board of Education in 1994. After retiring, he served as an administrator at Xenia Nazarene Christian School for 6 years. Joe was active on the church board and numerous committees for many years at Xenia Church of the Nazarene. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and was never one to turn down a bacon cheeseburger.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton in his name.

Services will be held 2:30 PM Wednesday, June 16 ^th at Xenia Church of the Nazarene, 1204 W. Second St., Xenia with Pastor Mark Atherton officiating. Interment to follow in Spring Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1 PM Wednesday until the time of service at the church.
