John T. Blair, 87, was called home by his Lord on Friday July 29, 2022 at Grandview Hospital. John was born in Dayton, OH November 1, 1934. His family moved to New Holland, OH where he grew up and graduated from Hew Holland High School. He enlisted in the Army but was soon honorably discharged to work in the pattern industry due to his high skill level and need for talent. John worked in the pattern industry for several shops throughout his 40+ year career. He was known as one of the best wood pattern men in the Miami Valley.
John's outstanding wood working and carpentry skills served countless family members, friends and his church over his many years. He could make anything out of wood! He completed a multitude of projects from furniture, to toys, to building renovations for anyone who asked. He enjoyed the fruits of his labor by seeing that recipients of his skills and projects were always impressed.
John was a dedicated member of AHOP Church and had a special relationship with Pastor Mark Brooks. He served God and AHOP with his hands and his heart. He worked on many wood working and carpentry projects for AHOP, giving freely of his time and talent. John also hosted Bible study groups at his home. He touched the lives of many church members, some who felt John was a good example of what a man should be like.
John was preceded in death by his parents and a great granddaughter Mia Jo Lodge. He was faithful to the love of his life Virginia (Ginny) Reisinger Blair. Ginny preceded him in death in 2017. John's marriage commitment "until death do us part" was evident as he was care giver to Ginny for 12 years due to her lengthy illness and disability.
John is survived by two daughters, Tami (Brad) Montgomery and Teri (Wesley) Ritchie. Granddaughters, Blair (Charlie) Davis, Brook (Justin) Lodge, Chelsea Ritchie (Chris Rowland) and Taylor Ritchie (Troy Mangan). Great Grandsons Chayse Caldwell, Will Lodge and Carter Davis. Great granddaughters Paislee Rowland, Rylie Rowland and Morgan Davis. Special friend Anna Duke. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and their children.
