John A. Goodwin, Sr., age 86, of Jamestown, OH, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Hospice of Dayton Inpatient Unit. He was born on December 16, 1939 in Muncie, IN to the late Alvey Dragoo and Katherine (Hickey) Goodwin.

John is survived by his wife: Joyce Elaine (Lyons) Goodwin of Jamestown; children: John Goodwin, Jr., Terrence Goodwin, Thomas Joe Goodwin, and Jane Ellen Goodwin; sisters: Jackie Wooten, Jeanie Smith, Judy McLaughlin, Jan Huffman, Joy Stubbs, and Jill Goodwin; special friends Shane and Gary Hines; and many extended friends and family. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son: David Goodwin.

John retired as a truck driver after over 65 years of dedication. He then went on to haul grain for the Hines Farm family for many years. John was a member of the New Jasper United Methodist Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles 1689, and Moose Lodge 1629. He loved to be outside, often working on the lawn. John had a deep affection for his dogs, especially Buddy.

Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at McColaugh Funeral Home, Xenia. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bowersville. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
