Joseph Lee Ours, age 96, of Xenia, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Shawnee Estates Senior Living (Elmcroft) of Xenia. Joe was born April 24, 1927 in Pickaway County, Ohio the son of Harley and Victoria Pfieffer Ours. He was a Class of 1945 graduate of Union-Scioto High School in Ross County, Ohio. He was a military veteran serving in the US Army. Joe married Norma Jean Roll of Kingston, Ohio on June 10, 1946 in Greenup, Kentucky.

Upon leaving the Army, Joe attended Business College in Chillicothe, Ohio and earned an Accounting Certificate. He then began a career with the Pennsylvania Railroad (later Penn-Central, then Conrail) in Circleville, Ohio as a relief agent with assignments throughout Ohio and Indiana. Joe was appointed Xenia Station Agent and moved his family to Xenia in 1964. He retired in 1988 after 37 years of service. Joe also served his communities as a volunteer fire fighter both in Kingston, Ohio and Xenia Township.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brother and two sisters and his wife of 73 years, Norma on November 7, 2019.

Survivors include his daughter: Connie (Robert) Hines, sons: Tom (Linda) Ours and Ned Ours, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
