With a heavy heart and great sadness, Kenneth G. Baer (Kenny), age 77, of Xenia passed away on Friday October 17, 2025 at Soin Medical Center. Kenneth was born on November 19, 1947 in Mt Union, PA, son to the late Merle and Olive Ruth (Zimmerman) Baer.
Kenny was loved by many. He is preceded in death by an infant son: Christoper and three brothers: Alan Hobbs, Donald Hobbs and Robert Baer, of PA.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Irene (Puckett) Baer, The 46 beautiful years began on April 8, 1978: He had Two sons and two daughters - Karla (Baer) Nicol of Naples Fl, Kiley D. Baer of Greenfield, OH, Briana Baer and Robert Baer - both of Xenia, OH; a son in law Patrick M. Andrea; Sister = Marlene (Baer) Runk of PA. - and many grandchildren who called him by "Paw" and "Grandfather"; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was a graduate of Captain Jack High, Mount Union, PA and served in the US Army following graduation. Being stationed in Vietnam, he served in the Company A 4th Battalion 1st Brigade as a tanker. His honorable service was recognized by several medals and badges to include - Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry (w/palm), Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle), and the Bronze Star Medal - all of which he held with pride and honor. Following his US Army service, Kenny retired from AK Steel (formerly known as Armco and Steelox.)
The many things he enjoyed included being an avid football fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and Penn State University (his home state). In his younger years, playing poker, darts, fishing, and billiards were some of the hobbies he enjoyed with family and friends. He took pride in what he owned, well maintained vehicles inside and out - spotless, shiny, clean and streak free. Considered a jack of all trades and his knowledge was taught first hand to his children and many other family members - car trouble - "call dad (Kenny)". His confidence was well shown keeping things perfectly maintained - like new. Each and every day, a rose was picked for the love of his life, best friend his wife. He loved perfectly and it showed.
