LeRoy  Harshaw, age 96, of Xenia, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022 at his residence. He was born November 23, 1925 in Nashville, TN, one of 7 children born to George and Octavia (Smith) Harshaw.

In addition to his parents, LeRoy was preceded in death by his wife, Almeda Harshaw; a son: Louis L. "Bunky" Harshaw; and 6 siblings: George Jr. "Rip" Harshaw; Leonard Harshaw; Hildred Anderson; Joan Bronston; Wanda Echols and Geraldine Johnson.

He is survived by daughters: Lia Lynette (Joseph) Ashford; Dianna Lane; Charlotte (Wesley) Respress; Cynthia Lane; 15 grandchildren and a host of other great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

LeRoy grew up in Springfield, Ohio. He played baseball for the Professional Negro League (Springfield Tigers). He was a proud WWII veteran serving in the US Army Air Corps.  He retired from Wright Patterson AFB after 37 years of service. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling. He and his wife had enjoyed traveling. He was a member of Middle Run Baptist Church and the Elks #668.

Services will be held 12 Noon Monday, May 2 ^nd at Middle Run Baptist Church, 1000 E. Church St., Xenia with Pastor LeRoy Anthony officiating. He will be interred at Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield, OH. Friends may call Monday from 11 AM until the time of service at the church.
