Marcus Jay
English
Aug 23, 1958 — Sep 17, 2022
Marcus Jay English, "Marc"/ "Ping", 64 years of age, of Xenia, Ohio, gained his wings to be with the Lord on September 17, 2022 surrounded by his family at the Hospice of Dayton after his battle with cancer.
Marc was born on August 23rd, 1958 at Greene Memorial Hospital (Xenia, OH). He was an only child to his wonderful parents, John and Margaret English. Marc attended Xenia Community Schools and graduated from Xenia High School in 1977. Growing up, Marc enjoyed spending time with his childhood friends Jerry Grigsby, Steve Hall, Darrel and David Slone. Marc was married to the love of his life, Katherine "Kathy"(Inlow) English on June 2nd, 1979 at the Xenia Church of God.
Marc loved his job as he worked for 33 years at the US Postal Service as a Letter Carrier, in which he retired in 2018. In his time with the postal service, Marc was a member of the National Letter Carriers Association, Branch 182, and was the Post Office Safety Team Lead. He greatly enjoyed his time with his colleagues and building lifelong friendships through the post office over the 33 years.
Marc loved spending time with his family and friends, while actively supporting his 9 grandchildren in all of their sporting events, plays, and extracurricular activities. Marc also had a love for hunting, golfing, grilling, baking, attending rock and country concerts, and vacationing with his wife and family.
A jokester, comedian, story-teller, who always knew the best shortcuts to take (although in reality it took longer) are just some of the attributes that come to mind when describing such an amazing individual that has touched the lives of so many. His jokes and corniness will forever be remembered through his family and friends through shared laughter.
Marc is preceded in death by his Parents: John and Margaret English, mother-in-law, Connie Inlow, aunts: Hazel Caplinger and Nelly Bickett, uncles: Bob Bickett and Bob Higgins, beloved cousin Sammy Caplinger, along with many extended family members.
Marc is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Kathy; children: Tara (Ryan) Butler, Tyler "Ty" English, and Tyra (Mitch) Senter. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Brhett (Michelle) Combs, Cole English, Brayden Combs, Brooke Combs, Caden English, Lydia Senter, Larkyn Senter, Easton and E'lynn Butler. Marc was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first great grandchild. He is also survived by his father-in-law: Levi Inlow, brother-in-law: Mike (Shirlee) Inlow, Sister-in-law: Tina (John) Mclemore, Nephew: Destre Inlow, Niece: Mariah Mclemore, as well as several extended family members including aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews many of whom reside in Indiana.
Services will be held 10 AM Thursday, September 22 nd at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia with Pastor Joe Robinette officiating. Burial to follow in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
