Mary Ann Simmons, age 76, of Xenia, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 14, 2024 at Soin Medical Center. She was born at home on July 26, 1947 in Clifton, Ohio. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Evelyn (Holten) Bates; brothers: Larry Anderson and Leo Chinn Bates; and sister: Bonnie Sue Davis.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Martin E. Simmons; children: Brian (Leslie) Dixon, Sr., Roxanne Dixon and Karen (Scott) Dixon-Mikel, all of Xenia; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; brother: Larry Davis, Sr. and cousin: Pam Blackman; as well as numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary Ann retired after 30 years from Friends Care Center in Yellow Springs, where she had been the Assistant Director of Nursing. She graduated from Youngstown North High School. She enjoyed bowling and bingo. Mary Ann was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers Football Fan. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #2. Mary Ann was a collector of elephants, hats, shoes and anything lilac. Most importantly, she loved her family and her grandchildren. She was a member of Middle Run Baptist Church, 1000 E. Church St., Xenia where Homegoing services will be held 11 AM Friday, June 21st. Visitation will be held 10 AM Friday until the time of service at the church. She will be buried at Clifton Cemetery.
