Mary L. West, age 70, of Dayton, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born October 14, 1952 in Lumberton, North Carolina; the daughter of Creola Rose (Atkinson) and Arthur Mack Floyd. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son: Howard L. West, Jr.; and a sister: Melanie Floyd.

Mary is survived by her children: Melinda West of Dayton; Bryan (Amber) Simpson and Ryan (Sarah) Simpson, both of Xenia; brother: Everett Floyd of Dayton; sister: Camille Floyd of Xenia; grandchildren: Jaden Byrd; Rylan, Mya, Melanie and Lauralie Simpson; nieces and nephews: Dontae, Adrian and Amber Arter; Monique Floyd; several great nieces and nephews; special friends: Jennifer Dearwester and Pam Harding; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Mary graduated from Xenia High School, Class of 1970. She retired as an accountant from Wright Patterson AFB. She was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Church in Dayton, where she was active as an usher. Mary was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Dayton for the exceptional care they showed Mary.

Services will be held 11:30 AM Wednesday, March 8th at Middle Run Baptist Church, 1000 E. Church St., Xenia.  Visitation will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday at the church.
