Phyllis Smith Mendenhall, 86, of Xenia, died Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Legacy Village.

She was born August 23, 1937, in Springfield, the daughter of Wilbur and Marie (Ramby) Downing.  Phyllis graduated from Springfield High School.  She attended the Church of Christ in Christian Union and Zoar United Methodist Church.  Phyllis was a member of the Xenia Senior Center String Bendors and assisted Richard with delivering Meals on Wheels.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Tonya (Jim) Murnahan; grandchildren, Tracey (Derrick) Weimer, J.C. and Ashlynn Murnahan; great-grandchildren, Justin Weimer, Graclynn and Lacey Murnahan; brother, Dale (Esther) Downing; and sister, Joyce Chanault.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Everett Smith; second husband, Richard Mendenhall; and granddaughter, Megan Murnhan.

Services will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday, March 19th at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Visitation will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday until the time of service. She will be interred at Woodland Cemetery.
