Richard E. "Dick" Grimes, age 85, of Xenia, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born March 10, 1936 in Xenia the son of John B and Martha (Perdue) Grimes.

Dick proudly served in the US Air Force as a Sargent. He was a Dope & Fabric Mechanic, working on the B-29, C-47 and C-119 aircraft. He was an avid fisherman. Until just a few years ago, Dick could be seen walking around Xenia, most days completely nearly 15 miles a day. He was a good man, a wonderful father and adoring grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Fawley) Grimes; and his siblings: Bill Grimes, Kate Reynolds, Bob Grimes and infant sister: Betty Grimes.

He is survived by his children: Richard A. "Rick" Grimes of Xenia; Linda (Jeff) Vanscoy of Sabina and Kenny (Sharon) Grimes of Waynesville; 6 grandchildren: Richard I. Grimes; Stephanie Sanders; Joshua and Steven Clutter; Sarah and Luke Grimes; and 8 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 4-6 PM Thursday, August 12, 2021 at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Graveside services will be held 10 AM Friday at Woodland Cemetery, with Rev. Earl Vanscoy officiating. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.mccolaughfuneralhome.com.
