Richard O. Mendenhall, age 80, of Xenia, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born September 2, 1941 in Xenia, the son of Paul Everett and Eunice Eileen (Dotson) Mendenhall.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Paul E. Mendenhall; mother and step father: Eunice and Chester Fannin; brother: Everett Mendenhall and his wife: Chloe N. Blevins Mendenhall.

He is survived by his wife: Phyllis Mendenhall; children: Richard L. Mendenhall; Paula E. Mendenhall and David A. (Elizabeth) Mendenhall; 2 grandchildren: Joseph A. Mendenhall and Mya N. Mendenhall; brother: Terry L. (Jan)  Fannin and sister: Linda Lou (Mike) Bihlman.

Joe had been a rural postal carrier for over 31 years. He graduated from Xenia High School, Class of 1959 and served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union in Jamestown. Joe enjoyed spending time at the Xenia Adult Recreation Center. He delivered Meals on Wheels for over 10 years.

Services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. He will be buried at Byron Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be made to the family at www.mccolaughfuneralhome.com.
