Richard E. Strayer, Sr. age 87, of Xenia passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Trinity Care Center in Beavercreek. He was born June 15, 1939 in Xenia, the only child to Elwood C. and Margaret (Bone) Strayer, both deceased.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his step-daughter: Karin Lemon.

Dick had a loving blended family. He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Connie (Swadener) Strayer; children: Richard E. (Stephanie) Strayer, Jr., Robert E. Strayer, Russell E. (Maria) Strayer, step-daughter: Sharin (Tom) Snively; former spouse: Patricia Ferguson Hunt; many friends and a host of other relatives.

Dick graduated from Xenia High School, Class of 1957 and began working for the Morris-Bean Co. He retired after 42 years of service. He was an avid mushroom hunter, and liked to fish and hunt. He was known for being very meticulous about his yard.  He was a member of the Xenia Elks and Old Town UMC. He and his family had taken yearly vacations to Coldwater, Michigan ever since he was young.

Per his wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately.
