Rita Irene (Johnson) McClure was born on November 10, 1940, in Wilberforce, OH. She entered into eternal rest on November 1, 2024 in Kettering, Ohio.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents Clarance and Ruth Johnson, her daughter Carmella "Candy" Glass, Grandaughter Jasmine T. Williams, Great Granddaughter Tre'Ana Tarver, her Husband Charles McClure, her brothers Ronald Johnson, Donald Johnson, her sisters Patricia Scales, Sandra Green, and Brenda Nared, and Grandchildren she didn't get to meet Erica, Erie, and Eric Hocker Jr.

She is survived by her brothers Tony (Hilda) Johnson, and Gary (Marlene) Johnson, sons Donald (Tracey) Hocker, and Eric Hocker, daughter Nathanie "Diane" Myers, Step Sons Greg (Julie) McClure and Freddie McClure. Grandchildren Mercedes (Andrew) Burch, Takeeshia Glass, Jerome "Robert" Glass, RoShaun (Tonika) Williams, Jerone "Moe" Glass, Alesia "Gert" Glass, Jason (Allison) Williams, Ashley Williams, Cody Williams, Magen Hocker, Camry Evage, Andre Blanks, Ciera Blanks, Mike Mabry, and a host of great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews, including her favorite nephew/son Jody Cloud.

Rita was the Matriarch of Xenia. When there was a problem, you'd go see Aunt Rita! Simple as that! She retired as a housekeeper from Central State University in 2001. She looked forward to spending time and playing dice games with her brother Gary on Wednesdays and Saturdays. She enjoyed the summer months because that was when her large family would gather for good times on her lawn, with the smell of barbecue wafting in the air. How she loved those visits from family and friends!

She was also THE 'Neighborhood Watch', and she went at it solo from her favorite spot in front of her picture window. Nothing got past her. If you were in the wrong, she would check you, yet she was respected by the whole neighborhood. The time she went to Florida to visit with her brother Tony and sister-in-law Hilda remains as one of her favorite memories.

Rita chose to have a celebration of life. She made her daughter Diane promise to have a good time, enjoy a meal and remember her. Family and friends will gather to do just that on November 23, 2024 from 1pm-7pm at the Wilberforce Community Center, 1208 Wilberfoce-Clifton Rd, Wilberforce, OH 45384.
