Robert Darnell Grimes, age 67, of Xenia, passed away Wednesday July 9th, after a tough battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born March 14, 1958, in Xenia, the son of Robert Earl and Urmah M. (Nared) Grimes.

Darnell was preceded in his death by his father: Robert E. Grimes and siblings: Kelly M. Grimes, Robert Freeman, Ronald and Tracy Grimes, and Pat Murphy.

He is survived by his mother: Urmah Grimes, son: Robert Grimes Jr (Brooke) of Xenia, 1 grandchild: Raeya Grimes, brothers: Edward Grimes , Virgil and Michael Porter, and his best friends: Laura Roundtree and Curtis Williams and Bryon Hess, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Darnell was a son, a brother, a father, a grandfather and a friend to many. He was a teacher, a master mechanic and an expert builder. Anything you brought to him, he could fix. He loved animals and the outdoors. He would give the shirt off his back to help the people he cared about. All the way until his last breath, he thought about others and how he can help everyone else, even splitting his last desserts with his granddaughter. He will truly be missed.

Celebration of life will be held at New Life Christian Assembly, Saturday, August 9th at 12:00 Noon gathering with service beginning at 12:30 PM.
