Ronald E. Coates, 81, of Xenia, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022, in Beavercreek, OH.

Born August 27, 1940. He was the 2 ^nd of 3 sons born to Charles Edward and Margaret Ann (Shanks) Coates. He lived and worked his entire life in Xenia, retiring from Bob Evans Farms after 42 years of faithful service.

He was a self-made man, using his God-given intelligence, ability to reason, and common sense to navigate his many life's challenges. He was a kind-hearted and fair man, always giving the other person an even chance. In 2006, Ronnie was baptized into the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He loved and spoke the truth often, never backing down when his faith was challenged. His dedication was both a source of comfort and an example to his family. His quiet strength will be sadly missed.

As a young man, Ronnie was an avid bowler with his highest game being 289. Later in life, he enjoyed puttering in his yard and creating new recipes in the kitchen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lawrence Coates, and 2 granddaughters, Ashley Arrasmith and Dana Jones. After 49 years, he leaves behind a loving wife, Linda, and 7 children; Rhonda, Tina, Derek, Laura and Jill of Xenia and Gary and Lisa of Wilmington,17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. A brother, James (Frances) Coates of Springfield and a sister-in-law, Pam (Mitch) Edwards of Tennessee also survive.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, May 5 ^th , at McColaugh Funeral Home, where visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service, Roger Morgan of the Xenia South Congregation officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
