Obituary

Ronald E. Thornburg, 75, of Xenia, Ohio, passed away on the morning of April 14, 2023 at Trinity Community at Beavercreek.  Ron was born on August 23, 1947, in Bellbrook, Ohio, the son of the late Marx H. and Helen (Winn) Thornburg.  A lifelong bachelor, Ron is survived by his brother, Jim (Vicki) and sister, Ellen Marianne Ryan (Tim),  several nieces and nephews, and his many Xenia friends.  After high school, Ron served in the Navy, then was employed as a draftsman until his retirement in 2014.  Ron had a great singing voice and formerly was a member of Xenia's chapter of SPEBSQSA (Barbershop Harmony Society), where he sang and made many valuable friendships.  Ron was also a very good artist (he could replicate Peanuts and Mad Magazine characters remarkably well), and often played the guitar in his earlier years.  Ron was an avid Ohio State, Cincinnati Bengals and Xenia High School sports fan.  Ron made great friendships at Nick's Restaurant in Xenia, where you could find him with his friends on Trivia nights and after XHS football and basketball games.

Ron was a generous Uncle, brother and friend and was also a thoughtful neighbor, where his acts of kindness were greatly appreciated and will be sorely missed.

Ron's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Trinity Community at Beavercreek and to the Hospice angels-on-earth who tended to his final days.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to support Hospice or to Xenia High School sports programs (c/o Xenia Community Schools, 819 Colorado Drive, Xenia, Ohio, 45385)

Ron's family would also like to express the importance of paying attention to alarming health symptoms and concerns you may have!  Embrace and accept help when it is offered.

A celebration of Ron's life will be held sometime in May—the date & time will be posted on Facebook as soon as those details are known.
