Rubie Beatrice
"Bea" Camp Best
Sep 23, 1934 — Sep 11, 2026
Greensburg
Rubie Beatrice "Bea" Best, 91, of Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026.
She was born on September 23, 1934 in Blackwater, VA, the eldest daughter of the late Alex and Bessie (Wallen) Hall. She graduated from Blackwater High School in 1952, where she lettered in basketball. Her flair for fashion led her to jobs at JCPenney, Krakoff's, and W.R. Fashions during her time in Xenia, OH. She attended Indiana Business College and went on to work in administrative services in the radiology department at Westview Osteopathic Hospital in Indianapolis, IN before retiring in 1989.
Bea was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandmother. She made sure family and friends always knew how loved they were and never missed a birthday or anniversary without a phone call, a card, or both. She was the epitome of "never knew a stranger" and got the biggest kick out of meeting new people and trading stories from each of their lives. Bea loved to boogie and support live music, often making her way to Renfro Valley to see her favorite musicians. In her younger years you'd find her bowling, crocheting, and hosting loved ones at Lake Santee, where many cherished memories were made. For the last 25 years, it brought her great joy to be a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Bea is survived by her husband, Sheldon Best; sons Bob Camp (Maureen) and Roger Camp (Milley); grandchildren Melissa, Sean (Angela), Morgan (Brian), and Mandi; great-grandson Joshua; sisters Dorothy Ramey, Brenda Evans (Roger), and Kathy Carson; brother Steve Hall (Janie); and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Leroy Camp; sisters Kate Smith and Wanda Minor; brothers J.C., Jural, and Elmer Ray, who died in infancy.
Funeral Service will be held 11:30 AM Thursday, September 17th, at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N Detroit St, Xenia, OH 45385, where visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until the time of service. Interment will immediately follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 170 N Valley Rd, Xenia, OH 45385.
In lieu of flowers, Bea would be tickled if you made a donation in her name to your favorite charity.
