Russell J.
Stine, Jr.
Aug 16, 1957 — Jul 20, 2026
Russell Joseph Stine, Jr. passed away July 20, 2026 at Miami Valley Hospital following a heart attack. He was 68. He was loved dearly by his wife of 45 years, and his son and step-daughter.
Russ was born August 16, 1957 to Faith (Carter) Stine and Russell J. Stine, Sr. in Monterey, California. His father was career military and the family moved often, but Lewistown, PA was always their ancestral home and base. His parents had four children besides Russ: Pam, Nancy, Tim and Penny. His father and sister Pam preceded him in death. He had many nieces and nephews.
Russ was an avid sports fan, especially of the Miami Dolphins and Penn State University. He also golfed regularly. When he wasn't cheering on his favorite team, he was "running the chains" at Xenia High School's football games. Russ was a lover of people and his sports interests got him out among people. Russ made friends with just about everyone he met.
He graduated from Lewistown, PA High School in 1976, and joined the Army soon after graduating from high school, attaining the rank of E4. He met his wife while in the Army and they married in 1981. After making this area his home, he attended and graduated from Sinclair Community College with a degree in Sport and Recreation. He eventually took a job at Greene County's Recreation Department and he retired from the county in 2010.
After his retirement, Russ focused on being a Motorcycle Ohio Instructor and enjoyed his work there on weekends.
He leaves behind his wife Cindi, his son RJ (Olivia) and his step-daughter Kristi (Joe). He had four grandchildren whom he loved as only a grandpa can.
Funeral service will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday, July 28th at McColaugh Massie Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Pastors Annie and David Turner will be officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery with military honors.
Russ was a casual guy and he would want those celebrating his life to wear casual clothes. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in his name.
