Saundra K. Cowens, age 83, of Xenia, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025 at Wright Rehab in Fairborn. She was born September 4, 1941 in Terre Haute, Indiana, the daughter of Ray R. and Clara W. (Butler) Rukes.

In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Cowens.

She is survived by children: Doug Cowens, Randy (Christy) Cowens and Angel (Sean) Brunner; grandchildren: Candace, Dylan, Tessa, Tate, Zoey, Crystal, Christopher and Sam; 6 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.

Sandy had worked alongside her husband, at Cowen's Team Sports shop for many years. She retired from Xenia Schools where she had been the "lunch lady" at the high school. She was a member of Faith Community Methodist Church. Sandy loved NASCAR and her favorite driver was Carl Edwards. She was very appreciative of the care given to her by Dr. Richard Byers and his wife, Tammy.

Funeral service will be held 11:30 AM Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia with Pastor Jeff Bandy officiating. Visitation will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday until the time of service at the funeral home.
