Steven D. Howard, 72, of Xenia, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 in his home.

He was born September 29, 1953, in Xenia, the son of Kenneth E. and Mildred E. (Yeakley) Howard.  Steve wore many hats, literally and figuratively. He was a manager for J.O. Harner Plumbing Supply for many years. In retirement, he enjoyed a good Western, listening to music, and mowing grass. He had a tool and a tip for any problem, and was a dedicated problem solver. Steve was not only a great friend, but a great son, father, brother, and grandfather. Steve had a way with words and an enthusiastic smile that knew no stranger. He enjoyed being just a phone call away from the ones he cared about, whether it was to offer help at the drop of a hat or to be a listening ear with words of wisdom along with it. Steve enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and each one had him wrapped around their finger. If they spoke he would listen and if they grabbed his hand he would follow wherever they took him.  Steve's light shined bright and he was loved and respected by many.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Stephanie ( Don Nack); son, Justin (Jaimee Fox) Howard; grandchildren, Bentley Howard, Braison Howard, Brenlynn Slone, Justin Howard Jr., Callie Bradley, Brystel Howard, Blyx Howard, Parker Nack and Archer Nack; sisters, Carol Miller and Sherry (Michael) Weise.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Richard "Rocket" Howard.

Funeral service will be 11:30 AM Tuesday, August 4th, at McColaugh Funeral Home in Xenia, where visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until the time of service.  Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Xenia.
