Suzanne Kay
Czerniak
Apr 16, 1943 — May 25, 2023
Suzanne Kay (Fennell) Czerniak, 80, of Cedarville, Ohio entered her eternal home in heaven on Thursday, May 25, 2023, surrounded by her three loving children.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, the love of her life, Lawrence E. Czerniak on January 26, 2022. They were married on July 10, 1965, at First Baptist Church of Bronson, Michigan. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister: Delores Fennell.
She is survived by her children: Paul Allen (Andrea) Czerniak of Danville, Indiana; twins: Robert Bruce (Jennifer) Czerniak of Cedarville, Ohio, and Dawn Rachelle (Ray) Anderson of Washington Court House, Ohio; 8 grandchildren: Ryan, Jake, Sam, Chloe, Claire, Jack, Alexa, and Emma; and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Dianne (Jerry) Mock of Camby, Indiana, and brother, James (Vivian) Fennell of Fulton, Michigan, as well as many other relatives and friends.
She was born on April 16, 1943, in Three Rivers, Michigan. As the daughter of Ora L. and Wilma A. (Grove) Fennell, she was blessed to be born into a family that loved the Lord. She had a beautiful childhood, attending a one room schoolhouse called Island School, pushing her cat named Blacky in a stroller around her family's small farm, and doing her best to avoid her brother Jim's pranks.
Sue graduated from Cedarville College and later received her Master of Education degree from Butler University. She held multiple jobs throughout her life including teaching kindergarten and first grade at Bethesda Christian School in Brownsburg, IN as well as bookkeeping at McGregor Retirement Home and Citizens Federal Bank, from which she retired after 20 years. However, she would say her most important job in life was to be a devoted pastor's wife and mother; selflessly filling roles in the church, keeping their home, and raising their children with grace.
Perhaps one of the most treasured seasons of her life began in 1994 when her first grandchild was born. She spent an immeasurable amount of her time and love sewing one-of-a-kind heirlooms for her grandchildren including embroidered dolls, Christmas stockings, dresses and outfits for every milestone, and personalized handmade quilts. It seems the rest of her time was dedicated to being present with her grandchildren. Possibly the greatest example set for them, other than living a life dedicated to Christ, was how to show up for people you love. Whether it be a Christmas play, sporting event, grandkids week, graduation, or wedding – Grandma was always there, in sickness and in health.
Mom was truly a Proverbs 31 woman. She knew what she could control and courageously trusted God with what she could not. She could face her days because she was encouraged in the truth that God has ordered her steps. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and embodied Christ throughout her battles until her last breath. Our mom will be greatly missed, but we are at peace knowing she is no longer suffering here on earth and we rest in the promise that we will see her again soon.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 10am-12pm, Thursday, June 1, 2023, with a service to follow at 12pm at Grace Baptist Church, 109 N. Main St., Cedarville, Ohio. A private Interment for immediate family will follow in North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church Benevolence Fund at https://pushpay.com/g/gracecedarville .
