Verna G. Savory, age 85, of Xenia, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Beavercreek Health and Rehab. She was born July 2, 1939 in Wykoff, Minnesota the daughter of Roy and Irene (Kohlmeyer) Grabau.

Verna grew up on a farm. After she graduated from Wykoff High School in 1957 she moved to Ohio where she had obtained a job at Wright Patterson AFB. It was here that she met her husband, Charles Savory and they were married in 1957. Early on, Verna worked in telephone sales with Sears Catalog Co. She also worked with the Xenia Schools in the Cafeteria.  After her husband, died in 1987, Verna enjoyed traveling with a group of Senior Ladies and attended the Xenia United Presbyterian Church. Most importantly, Verna enjoyed being a grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and son: Jeff Savory.

She is survived by her sons: Scott (Virginia) Savory and Patrick (Lisa) Savory, all of Beavercreek; brother: Marvin (Shelly) Grabau and Belinda Foisy, both of MN; grandchildren: Tony Savory, Beckie (Shawn) Long and Amanda Casey; 6 great grandchildren: Ivy, Kris, Lilly, Violet, Austin and Jasmine; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral service will be held 11:30 AM Friday, August 30, 2024 at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Friends may call Friday from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. She will be interred at Friends Cemetery.
