Vesta Ann
Miller
Jan 1, 1931 — May 11, 2025
Vesta Ann Miller, age 94, of Xenia passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Jamestown Place Health & Rehab. She was born January 1, 1931, in Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia, the daughter of Nora (Smith) and Moses William Duncan.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 71 years, John Paul Miller, her parents, her daughter, Judith Ann Miller; and great granddaughter, Ashley Marie Lewis.
She is survived by her sister, Susan (Duncan) Leonard of Urbana; her sons: Paul Miller of Xenia and Kenneth (Elizabeth) Miller of Jamestown; 4 grandchildren: Andrea (Chad) Reed, Julie and Kelly Miller; and Laura (Joshua) Booth; and 4 great grandchildren: Donnie and Annmarie Lewis; Kyli and Justin Marshall; and 3 great great grandchildren: Hailey Faith and Layla Rae Lewis; and Alice Robinette as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Vesta worked various jobs throughout her life, which included cleaning homes, babysitting children, and wallpapering. She was a long-time homemaker; cultivating beautiful and lasting memories for her growing family. She never left a place without leaving a lasting smile on someone's face or words of wisdom that touched the heart. She always had a fun story to tell while her homemade biscuits and famous beef and noodles cooked lovingly on the stove.
In her retirement, she enjoyed inviting family over to her home for cook-outs and celebrations, tending to her flower garden, crocheting and making clothes and blankets, building puzzles, and spending time with her best friend, the late Dolly Adkins of Xenia. She also assisted her husband, John in his lawn mower repair business. She loved taking the time to browse and shop and never passed up an opportunity to have an Esther Price chocolate, ice cream bar, or Pepsi. Along with her husband, she loved animals, especially birds and cats. Their home never turned a stray cat away; providing food, water, and affection always.
Services will be held 11:30 AM Friday at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Friends may call Friday from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
