Virginia Wellar, 88, of Ft. Myers, FL and formerly of Xenia died Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Ft. Myers, FL.

She was born July 24, 1936, in Columbia City, IN, the daughter of Lawrence and Lois A. (Raypole) Miller.  Virginia was a member of the First Christian Church in Ft. Myers, FL, former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Xenia and the Greene County Retired Teachers Association.  She graduated from the University of Findlay.  Virginia taught for 29 years in the Xenia City Schools retiring from Shawnee Elementary.  She was extremely proud of her granddaughter Lauren following in her footsteps as a teacher.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (David) Pemberton of Ft. Myers, FL.; granddaughter, Lauren Pemberton of Ft. Myers FL.; and several cousins in Indiana and Florida.

Visitation will be held 5 - 7 PM Tuesday, February 25th, at McColaugh Funeral Home in Xenia, where the funeral service will be held 11:30 AM Wednesday, February 26th.  Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Xenia.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Special Olympics  https://support.specialolympics.org/a/give-in-your-state
