Obituary

Wayne H. Stoudt, 91, formerly of Beavercreek died Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Cottages of Riverside in Riverside, CA.

He was born May 5, 1935, in San Bernardino, CA, the son of Paul H. and Ruth E. (Scull) Stoudt.  Following his Naval service as an electrical engineer, he returned home to California where he met his wife and started a family.  Growing up in a railroad town, with a father and grandfather who were long time engineers with Santa Fe, Wayne always possessed an aptitude for mechanical and electrical engineering, and a position as a repairman with Hobart Industrial Appliances was well suited for him.  During his time at Hobart he oversaw the institution of automated deli scales, learned the secret to El Pollo Loco's chicken marinade, and was pleased to provide his family with state of the art kitchen appliances not always available to regular consumers.  He retired from Hobart after 40 years.

Wayne never lost his love of trains, and loved to visit railroads and build models.  He also became an avid kite enthusiast.  He would build and fly his kites in international competitions, and would often host kite-making classes for school children.

Wayne is survived by son, Lonnie H. Stoudt of CA; grandchildren, Bethany (Nick) Medland of San Francisco, CA, Julie (Grant) Peeters of San Bernardino, CA, Kerby Wayne of Salt Lake City, UT and Kira Dianna Stoudt of Provo, UT; great-grandchildren, Lukas Daniel Miller, Finneas and Dalilla Peeters; sister, Lois Long of Apple Valley, CA; son-in-law, David Wilson of AZ; daughter-in-law, Judy Stoudt of UT.  He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley (Kerby); and daughter, Velda Dawn Wilson.

Wayne will be laid to rest with Shirley at the Dayton National Cemetery on Friday September 11th, 10:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the American Kiteflyer's Organization (www.kite.org).
